This promotional poster design for “Matcha Fusion” was digitally crafted using Affinity Designer, combining vector tracing techniques with a dimensional flat design style. The illustration process leveraged the Vector Persona, using the Pen Tool and Node Tool with high precision to build the contours of the cup, the folds of the whipped cream, the dripping matcha texture, as well as details on the macaron and bamboo whisk (chasen). Layered color palettes and the Gradient Tool were applied to give the drink a smooth “white marble” gradation, achieving a stylized, artistic look that still appears appetizing.

In terms of composition, the layout uses an asymmetrical balance, placing the Matcha White Marble Frappuccino as the primary focal point on the left side. The right side features a bold typographic hierarchy stating “MATCHA FUSION FRIENDS”, paired with handwritten-style text (“With Silky Creamer”) as a dynamic accent. To reinforce the matcha theme, supporting elements—a macaron, matcha powder, a bamboo whisk, and a slice of matcha cake—are arranged along the bottom plane, while the Starbucks logo sits at the top left corner to establish brand identity.

The first impression of working on this culinary-themed illustration in Affinity was highly impressive and satisfying. The app’s responsive performance allowed for smooth manipulation of hundreds of vector nodes without lag, which was especially helpful when building the intricate textures of the matcha powder and whipped cream. The seamless layer grouping and intuitive color workflow made the process from vectoring to final rendering remarkably fast and enjoyable for future projects.
